Screaming 886

A friend of mine just bougt an 886 that after a minute starts screaming from what I think the MCV pump. Steering clutch etc dosent work but 3-point and aux seems to be working ok.
I doesn´t think it is HY-TRAN oil in it but it seems to be fresh.
I canged the filter and inspected the screen.
I will change the oil to HY-TRAN when it´s woring ok.
We have an extra Cessna MCV pump but before we change pump I really would like to hear what you think.
If it is an Thomson pump does the Cessna fit?
Please post me an answer. Any other sugestions?
Thanks

You sure it isn't an engine bearing? May be fuel in the oil causing it. I had one that done the same thing. It was the rear main bearing screaming.

Fred,

I had one scream like crazy after I changed the MCV pump. The gear lash was much too tight. I took the gear off of my old pump and it worked just fine.

I would guess that your MCV pump is starting to scream as soon as it takes prime. This is the pump which also runs your power steering and Hydraulic clutch. They are not too hard to get to, and I believe I would pull it off to see what I had. I would think the pumps would interchange, and I"m sure someone with more experience will correct me if I"m wrong.

CHECK PTO IF IT DOESN'T TURN THE SPLINES IN THE BACK OF THE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE MAY BE STRIPPED. I HAVE HEARD THEM MAKE A REAL LOUD SCREAMING NOISE.
