don, i also have a ss/16 the one i purchased was idle for about 20 yrs. i guess yo know the carberator is aholy terror. it operates by vacuum with a rubber diaphragm. well over the years the rubber hardens and does not work properly. ifinally got mine running properly but it cost me 371.00 bucks for a new carb. one other solution is to install a rubber hand squeeze pump that you can attach to the fuel line. that carb is going to give you problems.
