security camera

I have searched and can't understand what I pull up. Wanting outdoor camera about 100' away and wifi is iffy that far. So I want one that doesn't require wifi. When they are triggered by motion can the person tell picture is taken, if so they could just destroy the camera and you have nothing. Maybe best solution would just get motion detector that would turn on light and that might scare them away. Any ideas appreciated.

If you have cell service you can get cameras that send the photos directly to your phone, but it's not
cheap. We just use game cameras, and we have some old ones put up that don't even work, for decoys.

A directional wifi antenna will make a strong signal at that distance. I have one on an irrigation controller at several hundred feet and
it works very well.

I use trail cameras around the farm , it's amazing just how many trespassers and other unusual things they have filmed .
The flash is infrared so it's not visible to the human eye , it's not obvious if you have been photographed . Some wild animals seem to be able to hear a faint click from a relay or such though.
What I have found to be the best deterrent is a combination of a hidden working trail camera , a larger dummy surveillance camera in a prominent high position along with a motion detector controlled alarm . It's a fairly simple thing to cobble together and really puts the wind up intruders .
The trail camera photographs or films them as the pass through , you can often see them looking at the dummy camera as if wondering if it really works , once the motion detector sets off the alarm they freeze , then run , leaping wildly away from the camera set high on a wall .
It is both amusing and annoying at the same time .
Everything runs off a 12 volt battery system charged by a solar panel .

Where is the recording stored?

my neighbor has some kind of set up at a remote barn with cameras. when they detect motion they notify him via cell phone and can do live
video. he can also talk to you over it. i would have to ask him what kind it is. seems like he said the whole deal was under a thousand. he
has cameras and smoke detectors inside the barn hooked up to it.

ldj,

I have ring system with cameras and
door switches. The video is stored
on their system. It is retrievable
I think for 39 days.

Mine is AC wired and wireless. They
also have battery a powered one.

The service contract is $10 a month
or $100 for the year.

It may have gone up?

Here is the camera, it does have
excellent night vision, motion
activated, and you can talk through
it too,

Guido.

I have a 4 camera hard wire system--the videos get recorded on a dvr system and records about 30 days before it overwrites---the dvr is wifi active and i can look at the videos from just about anywhere

The video or still shots are recorded on a SD card Idj , same as used in digital cameras but of a much larger capacity. A dash camera in a car is much the same .
You can quickly review anything recorded by pluging in a small screen that comes with the camera or you can takeout the card and view it on your computer . It's all very simple , my middle range camera stores thousands of still shots or up to 2 hrs of video.

I set up a camera system for my inlaws. 4 cameras, local power with wi-fi transmission. We used battery power ones at my church and the batteries did not last well. The advantage to Wifi is that there is
no wire to follow back to the recording unit up in the house. Video is recorded on a hard drive. Images are accessable over the internet or at the recorder unit. There were lots of features we did not use
in our setup.

One of the cameras was a good ways away and I added a high gain directional wifi antenna to transmit it back to the house.

It seems to me it was about $500 for the unit, cameras, hard drives, keyboard, mouse, and a monitor on ebay. It was unbranded Chinese stuff. Make sure the hard drives are survelence rated (they run
continuously).

Buy as much resolution as you can afford. Saving images at full resoltion chews up hard drive space, but gives you much more to see in the pictures when you need it.

It was less that a week before we got video (at 2:30am) of the person who was mucking around in their yard. Video was good enough for the police to track him down.

Hope my experience helps you.
