I purchased a couple of rakes several years ago that I was going to use in the garden I was going to do behind the house. But I never used them so I was thinking about away to help with my food plots to get the best possible outcome from my seed germination process. So I dug out these rakes and started working on my next project. I am going to call it, my seed rake! I have posted a picture of one of them, they are about 24” wide and I am going to put them together, to make a 72” wide seed rake.
I will say that I will make it to be 3 point hitch attachment since I have learned from the last project, the 3 point attachment gives me the most flexibility and control with the attachments. I will post pictures when it is completed since it will be a pretty easy project and not too much work to do to get it done.

For something that looks like it should have a wood handle, and you are mounting them on a 3pt? Don't think they will last too long, as they need to give/flex a bit.

You are 100% correct. They lasted about 3 passes! Or maybe 150’! So today, after I sat down and put pencil to paper. I came up with a new plan to make it. I ran to town and bought 10’ piece of rebar. I decided on the fiberglass kind but now I’m thinking I should have used the steel rebar, time will tell! I put together the seed rake. I got it done in about two hours or so using the same materials I had used before just did a few modifications and it really worked out great. I was able to get it installed on my tractor and give it a try. I think it worked fine but I will have to make a few adjustments just didn’t have time today. I will post pictures. As you can see, the Seed Rake is not that fancy but it seems to do a great job of preparing the soil for seed. I have ordered some seeds and I plan to get in the woods soon to get the summer food plots planted. I will post updates as I progress through the summer planting season and into the late summer planting season and the fall plots growth.

Well I decided to remake the seed rake. I purchased a 5’ 4” x 3/16” flat shock steel and some metal 1/2” rebar. Got my welder hooked up and made the rake out of steel. Now before I get the picture posted, I had not done any welding in over 4 years! So my skill level was very low compared with someone who has been actively welding. So just hold the laughing to a low roar!
It ain’t pretty and it’s not perfect but it’s been tested and not one of the spikes came off, Yet!
I do expect it and will just weld it back on again!
