Select-o-Speed filters

for anyone curious, the internal filter on the SOS are available again through CNH. stopped by Blue Ridge Tractor here in town for a bucket of hydraulic fluid, and asked the parts guy out of curiosity. sure enough, they are available again. I ordered two and he said he'd order a third for stock.

I had heard they were discontinued. i'll be keeping a couple extra around now, just in case.

Which ones? The pre-1965 S-O-S filters were what had been unavailable. The ones for the 1965+ S-O-S tractors have been available all along.

I believe you're missing the key word, "internal", Sean.

The 1965+ were internal as well. They are a spin-on type that mounted on the inside face of an exterior plate that you had to remove to service the filter. If you have to remove an exterior cover to service it then it is "internal" as far as I am concerned.

I think you and i have very different definitions for "internal"!

To me, an external filter is a filter like most Ford tractors have on the exterior of their engine, or the screw-on filter for the 4x4 auto reverser on a 4500. It is external to the casing and nothing other then the filter itself needs to be removed to replace it (with the exception of the canister housing on the canister style engine oil filters).
