Select-O-Speed PTO Cable

Need some help from the gurus, here.

I have a Select-O-Speed PTO cable assembly from a 971 complete with T handle, conduit, cable, and device to which the cable connects beneath the transmission top cover. I bought this on ebay 15+ years ago and am slowly disposing of my vintage Ford parts. I no longer have any 9 series Ford tractors but do still own a 64, 4 cylinder 4000 with SOS.

IIRC, the cables and conduits differ between the row crop and utility models due to spacing between the transmission top cover and hood. Can anyone verify this?

If, as expected, the 971 assembly cannot be used on a utility model, I would be interested in trading my assembly for an assembly in similar excellent condition to fit a utility model.

Alternatively, I'll probably sell my cable assembly on ebay as I have no plans to acquire a 97/81 tractor.

I believe the cables are the same between the 8 and 9 series. The 6 and 8 series have different lengths as far as the transmission cable goes, don't know for sure on the PTO cable. The way they are routed i would think the PTO cable would be easier to 'tweek' a little to make up for the difference in the height of the tin. Just my 2cents worth, Greg NE

Thanks guys.

If it does, I'll keep it.

The cable on my 4000 is fine but the ball and spring locking the PTO in engaged position have come out allowing the PTO to self disengage.

My parts book shows 1 pto cable (22.34" long) for single & 2 speed pto 59/up, part # 312454
It shows 2 transmission cables, part # 312395 (14.28" long) for 59/up, and part # 312678 (12.02" long) for 2120 gas models
