My selectospeed PTO will not shut off. Any help would be appreciatted.

Will it stop with some load applied to the shaft such as a baler or spreader of some sort? If it does stop when there's a small load applied and otherwise works normally, then it's about how it's supposed to be.
Those devil's didn't have a PTO brake. The only way to actually stop the shaft from turning is to dig into it and set the bearing preload up to new spec so it's tight enough to drag a bit... then it stops turning without a load. I think most people just cap them when not in use... but that's no good if you have something like a bushhog mounted on the tractor and it wants to turn all the time. There isn't really a simple solution though. It's the nature of the tempremental beast that it was....

I haven"t had a mower on it the see if it will shut off with a load on it. I"ll try it and see. Otherwise I"ll just cap it I guess. Thanks, Todd.
