Selling 560 Diesel

I have a '59 Farmall 560 Diesel that I am looking to sell. I had it to a mechanic who stated the reason it runs on only 5 cylinders is that it has a bad exhaust valve. It has a new injector pump, mismatched rear tires at 75%, new front tires and nice paint. Fast hitch, fenders and a few other misc. new items (tach, steering wheel and cap to name a few). Wondering what value to put on it. Love the tractor, but am at the end of the line with it and need the space. I am in Minnesota if that helps. Was thinking $2500 to start with.

1200-1500 maybe diesels cost lots to repair.

What did the mechanic say it will cost to fix it? If it's an easy fix, I would fix the bad valve before trying to sell the tractor. If it only runs on five cylinders, most buyers will assume it has one or more major problems and will discount it almost as much as if it was non-running.

Agreed. Selling it with an obvious issue is not as bad as selling it as a non-runner but its getting there. Most people will have the same attitude I would have "If it was so easy and cheap to fix the owner would have done it".

The head will have to be pulled off to fix the valve and it would be best especially on the 560 Diesels to resurface the head. You'll be money ahead while you have it apart.

Non-runners usually lose more value than the cost of the repair, because the buyer assumes if they're selling it non-running, or with obvious problems, the seller didn't take care of it, and looking to unload because of other unseen problems.

I can 560's in usable condition in west MN for 1500 and up.

bought one a few years ago around park rapids with good loader bad head gasket $1500 ended up needing a new head. Scott
