the serial number on the tractor is 9N 272494 it does not add up to a 9N, when I look up the SN online it looks like it might be an 8N instead of a 9N,,,,the transmission case has 9N 7006 on it...does this make any sense to anyone??thanks

1947 Serial number 9N258540 - 9N306221

You have a 2N.

There are no serial numbers that start with 2N.

Look over John Smith's great site.

saddltramp.......congratulations, you have the braggin' rights to a 1947 2N engine with 4-nipple frontmount distributor. All 2N engines s/n start with 9N. Since ALL N-engines are interchangable so it could be installed on a 4-speed redbelly 8N instead of an all grey 3-speed 2N. ALL 3-speed tranny cases start 9N-7006 ......Dell
