Serial number and date

I'm new to tractors live in Grand Forks, BC, Canada. I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to purchase a TE20 from a friend of mine for a really fair price.

It's old and beat up and needs some TLC but it runs and everything works. One of the reasons i bought it was for the front bucket and I wanted a project that wan't a car.

I've tried to date the thing he said it was a 1952 but when I check online the dates differ every site I try. The Serial Number is TE 121657

Thanks in advance for any info

Given the Vintage of these Tractors, it may be worth your time to post several more pictures. There are several tractors that have parts that are
interchangeable and can cause you grief when locating parts:

Be sure it's a Te and not a Tea, as the engines are different. When I first got my Tea20, I bought a book and it was for a Te.
Everything else is the same, just different power plant.

The TE and the TO have the same engine don't they? But the transmission cover is 2 piece on the TO. Been away from this for a while. My Tea has been untouched for ten years now.

I think you are correct. TE also has strut rods from Bell housing to front axle mount to brace up the engine. Alloy can't take the stress
from the fewer bellhousing screws.

The tractor has the Continental with the oil filer in the oil pan, Ignition and oil fill on the left as per the picture.
