So I am in need of some help figuring out what year the Massey Harris 44 is that I got from my Grand father. The Serial Number is 764795M1 and just below that is another stamp of F 15 D3. all of this is in the left side of the Transmission housing nest to the floor plate. Thanks for the help.

I don't think that is the serial number . Is it on a plate that is riveted to the frame or are those numbers cast into the part?

Location: Serial number[color=red:d0493bd178] plate[/color:d0493bd178] on the side of the tractor's main frame, just ahead of the operator platform. May be on left or right.

If the serial tag is gone or unreadable the serial number is stamped on the upper top left side of the transmission/rear
end housing. It is to the left of the pto lever.

This was the number that is casted into the transmission house and it is the same number that is on the engine and a small place on the right side of the tractor

(quoted from post at 18:23:45 07/24/20) I will take a look in that area. But the serial number plate is gone.

764795M1 is one of the transmission case part numbers in the parts book. That casting number won't help much, if any, to determine the year.

What 44wheatland said. The numbers You are posting are cast into the housing. The
numbers 44wheatland is referring to are stamped in...that is,they are lower than
the metal around them rather than raised up. They are quite shallow and could be
partly obliterated by rust. A bit of scraping and they might show up.

Post a picture of it.

The tag on my Massey Ferguson says the serial number is 1672 can`t find that on the list also took a look at the other areas stated couldn`t see any similar?

I'm looking for a replacement engine block for this block is cracked between cylinder sleeves it's a continental engine. Still running but water in the oil.

so I think I found the serial number and now I'm not sure I have a 44 and maybe a 33 what do you think. Here is the number I found stamped into the transmission housing
33GIRF
6088.

I believe that number is for a model [u:ea7a40d44b]33[/u:ea7a40d44b], [u:ea7a40d44b]G[/u:ea7a40d44b]asoline, [u:ea7a40d44b]1[/u:ea7a40d44b] (I believe it is a 1 not I) Sea Level engine, [u:ea7a40d44b]R[/u:ea7a40d44b]ow Crop, [u:ea7a40d44b]F[/u:ea7a40d44b]oot Clutch. [u:ea7a40d44b]6088[/u:ea7a40d44b] falls in the 1953 build year. Someone will correct this if I got it wrong.

Thanks for the reply and I think you are correct. It is a 4 cylinder foot clutch row crop tractor. I am currently trying to find a radiator for it.

truckhtr,

This is just my thought I am putting out to you. I think you would do well to start your own post with your info and what you are looking for, rather than having your needs mixed into gibby7387's post. You might include some pictures which could help with ID'ing your tractor.
