Serial number

Hello everyone,
It's been a few years since I posted and I lost the replies I received.Now that I have time to give my Grandfathers tractor some much needed Love.
I think I have a 1944 2N but would like to verify the serial with the Professional Tractor folks on this forum.!!
The number stamped on upper block is 9N166636 with a star at the end.

You cannot be sure of that if you are looking for engine sleves. It still could be the orignal style thin wall sleves but if it was overhauled it might have been bored out for the newer thick wall sleves. The change was made with the 8N but the older tractors some of them were converted over tothick wall. My 44 2N was converted over in late 70's. No way to tell unless you have head off.

thanks Leroy for the info.Ill print and file,if and when I get that far Ill know what to look for.The old girl runs real good with no smoke.I don't think she ever been torn down.
