service brake drum beyond repair.. how to remove assembly

That just has a brake band around the drum? Just take the nut off, the shaft is a tapered spline, should come off easily with a gear puller.

two cyl. john deeres are my game . number series favorates. i have not dealth with service brake issue before. i can get drum off ( how many thousands can i turn drum down before it gets too thin ) of shaft. how to take side assembly from case, gasket leaking pretty bad. guess i need shop manuel looking to get one new or good used one for br/bo.

If I remember on my AR, there are just 3 bolts and the housing comes off. As to how many thousands you can take off is up to you and you feel comfortable with.

got brake drum off with heat and puller. behind drum was a cone shaped piece with deep dish toward drum. to me the deep dish should be toward case of tractor. if it is oil splash return.
