Setting carb and gov

I have a front dist, 49 8N and am trying to learn how to see RPMs. What meter and hook up to what wire ???? I want to see 2200 0r 2400 RPMs???? to adjust govenor and carb, hi & low RPM

do you have an electronic tachometer? what leads does it have & is tractor 6v/12v & is tach compatible with whichever tractor is? there is possibility of external power source for tach

dnorum........the engine rpms is NOT critical. But iff'n yer sphincterly challenged, some claim you can snake a thin wire out under the squarecan seal from the springy-thingy. And then you can use a 6-volt dwell-tachometer.

Me? I just use my $200 Fluke 78 with sparkie clippy to measure rpms.

Did you know you can buy a watch battery powered LCD tachometer? Just sticky-back to yer dashpanel and wrap the sensor lead around #4 sparkie wire. $25 (cheap) Available from Northern Hydraulics, JC Whitney; etc, industrial lawnmower supply houses. .......Dell
