Setting Distributor

Got my distributor for '52 side mount ready to install and wondering what opinions are out there as to where the oiler points, FO82 shows it at the 7o'clock area, but I've seen 'em with it at the 5o'clock position. Any pros or cons? to position.

Satch.......recommend oiler at about 7:00 where it is eazy to gitt-too. Since the 5-nipple sidemount is continiously rotatable for timing (use tear-drop) it just makes sense to make it eazy. Note: rotor will rotate as you drop yer sidemount into the hole and engage the gear. Remember, the 5-nipple sidemount firing order is 1,2,4,3 CCW with #1 & #2 between the cap clippie. There is also 1-notch to keep the 5-nipple capple on the distributor cupple. And don't loose the little flat-springy inside the rotor. (don't ask) And yes, some sidemount dizzys have a dome cap inside the cupple. Ittza NAA dizzy part that fitts........Durango Dell, yer self-appointed sparkie-meister

Dell, What you say is great and makes all the sense. I looked at both options and went with the oiler @ the 5 o'clock direction as it lets the wires [I'm adding Pertronix Ignitor] go out the very bottom of the dist instead of out @ the 9 o'clock direction next to the manifold. I routed wires thru protective tub & kept them away from the manifold and still have good access to the oiler @ the 5:oo position.
