she won't turn

howdy all. I might have asked this before...I get a little forgetful once in a while.
Anyhow, have a 68 jd 4020. She has been acting up on the hyd. It would turn ok, then it wouldn't.
So pulled off the steering valve, and had it rebuilt at JD. They put it on the test rig, and it was ok
when it left the shop, put her on, worked a little bit, now she will not turn period. There is pressure
going to the valve, and I think pressure going down to the tires...but that's it.
something about a pump or a valve in the frount. I'm told a rebuilt one is about $600.
Any ideas ? Also, is there an easy way to get to it ? was told to take the whole front axle assembly
off. I hate to do that, don't know where to jack it up then don't want to bend something, and want
something rock solid if ive got to be working under it.....a lot of weight there.

Kind of a side question...would like to switch it over to 12 volt, due to bad wiring now. kits are about
$400 is it much of a job. as of late with my back and eyes....simple things are not simple anymore.

Thanks

Changing from 24 volts to 12 volts isn't very difficult. Just attach brown wire with blue wire to top post on starter solenoid post after 12 volt batteries are attached in parallel & 12 volt alternator is installed. IIRC you need to change fuel gauge for it to function properly.

Replacing o-rings & seals in steering motor require good frt end support when removing frt axle
