Sherman Combo

Hey Guys,
I have an 1841 with a Sherman Combo that is stuck in regular drive. Is there some way to free it up short of splitting the tractor.
Thanx GT65

Are you sure that you're shifting it correctly? I've never dealt with one, but from what I've read, the "Regular" drive position is achieved by sliding the handle in or out, I can't remember which off the top of my head, when it is halfway between the under and over drive positions. So if it's stuck in regular drive, try sliding the handle in or out on the shaft that the handle's connected to before you rotate the handle on the shaft.

Hello Gary , More than likely you will have to split the tractor because the shift rails are a little bit rusty from not being used . If you look back a half dozen pages or so you will see someone I think Kirk from New Jersey was posting some Sherman pictures . He shows two different top covers , one the shift rails are covered but the earlier ones are exposed and get rusted from not being used . That is more common on the early ones like yours(the change was around 1959) unless something is broken inside . Thanks Tony

on mine i pulled steering assembly and then you can get to top of aux trans and mine the detent balls (two hex caps be careful there is springs under them) needed cleaning (rusty) cleaned them and now shifts good might be all yours needs I think was caused from sitting and not being shifted
