Sherman Gaskets

Hoping someone can help here as I'm stuck.

I have a 2n Im rebuilding. Im really trying to change every gasket/seal I can get to while its split. Im down to the Sherman tranny, and I cant find gaskets anywhere for it. The mounting plate is still attached to the bell housing as you can see in the pic.

Were do I find the gaskets for this? I assume the gasket behind that mounting plate is a regular stock gasket? I can probably make my own but would rather not.

Also, what all should I replace while Im this far into it?

Thanks,
Nick

The gasket between the Sherman and tractor transmission is the stock Ford gasket. I have seen gasket sets online for the combination transmission but don't think I've seen them for the overdrive. I just make my own from gasket material from the auto supply store. How I do it is place the gasket material over the housing, then use the ball end of a small ball peen hammer to cut out a couple bolt holes. The casting will actually cut the gasket material when tapped around the edge of the holes. I then put a couple bolts in the holes to hole it in place and use the hammer for all the rest of the holes and around the edges. What doesn't cut when tapped with the hammer can be cut with scissors afterwards.

Not a whole lot to replace unless you want to replace all the bearings. If they are not rough and it wasn't noisy when you took it apart, don't mess with it. Don't forget to add some oil to the overdrive before you reinstall it.

Thanks for the reply! That actually helps a lot. I've already bought the gasket material. Looks like it should be 1/64 or. 015?

Redneck trick I guess to make a gasket, but it works amazingly well.

I usually measure the old gasket with a micrometer to find out the thickness and find a gasket material close. The old gasket will be slightly thinner due to compression when tightened. But on the Sherman, thickness should not be too particular.
