The original subject was "Sherman Low Transmission?".

Are there still Sherman Creeper Transmissions for sale in the market today? Where can I buy them? Does New Holland also sell creeper transmissions for old Ford tractors like the 8210's?

You can still find Sherman's around. Ebay, or just google "sherman transmission 8N" and see what you get. Expect to pay close to a grand for a hi-lo transmission in good condition. Having one in a tractor might raise the value a few hundred or so.

I considered adding one to my '50 8N, and decided against it. The benefit just wasn't there for the cost. While my tractor has been down, I borrowed another 8N that has the hi-lo, and the only time I used it was when I had to road trip about eight miles to go mow pasture for a widow at our church. Hi-hi on the 8N is "scary fast."

As Ed posted, Shermans are around, USED. Mostly the 3 range 'Combination' or the HI range 'Step-UP' versions. As for 'Creeper' gears, the Sherman version called 'creeper' is exceedingly rare and a grand would only be a deposit to hold it. $2,500.00 is what I sold the last one for.

Jessi.. what's wrong.. didn't you like the answer Rod gave you on the ford board from your question onthe 2nd? Rod gave you some good info. A person from a tractor dealership also replied...

Are you shopping for answers or????

to refresh your memory.. here's a link to your question and replies about the 8210 and creeper gear sets...

Your question from 6 2 08 that was already answered

Jess.........what is the matter??? you didn't like yesterdays answers about creeper gears for yer 8210's? Which are young tractors compared to the 60yo 2500# 26hp 8N's that the Sherman's fit.

According to my book on Ford tractors, the 8210 was 95hp diesel, 16x4 tranny, 4WD, 8395# behemoth, built 1986 to 1992. (thats semi-monster tractor, grin)

Yeah, I understand yer stated need/desire for creeper gears to rototill yer sorghum grain cropland. Sometimes the ANSWER is NEW tractors built to yer specifications. (think trade-in) Instead of "band-aiding" the WRONG tractor with EXPENSIVE non-existent parts. Thats just the way it is........respectfully, Dell

Perhaps it's good to tell folks that. (it probably helps keep your selling prices high) But the last two I saw sold here in central tX for less than $1K. ($750 for one supposedly working good, and $900 for one with a guarantee.)

I have a Hupp step-up in my 9N and wish it was a step-down, but it's unlikely I'll spend any money to accomplish it. I'd probably buy another tractor first.

The Step-DOWNS sell for that price. The last U/D I sold was to a fellow board member for just over 900 with UPS.
The thread was about the 'creepers'. At 9.25:1, the Sherman 'creeper' IS the rarest of them all and even $2,500.00 wouldn't buy the one I have now.
I tell it just the way it is. No need to inflate prices beyond the ridiculous levels they already are.
