Shift lever issue IH 330 Utility

Hello, I am working on an IH 330 Ul with issues in the shift rails. If I stay in R-2-or 4th gear I have no problem. But if I try to use 1-3 or 5th it will lock up between gears when I shift back to any other gear. I remove the shifter, realign the rails and I'm off and running again. I bought a used shift leaver and replaced it but had the same problem. I have recently welded to the end of the shifter and am now grinding it down to try to get the correct clearance to the bottom of the slot in the shift rail. Can anyone tell me what that clearance should be, or any other advice that will help resolve my issue. Thanks.

Previous YT post
Here is a YT post that Jim placed a photo with dimensions in. It says H & M but I have found it applies to just about all IH shift levers of that era.

The tip should be .100' thinner than the rails are wide. The front to back (IIRC) is 3/4" with rounded bottom corners. Jim

Well, after spending some time with the tractor today I have found that the shift rail guide assembly has come loose and dropped a 1/8" or so. I did weld some length to the shifter so your info will be great to help me return it to specs.

Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that means the top cover has to come off the transmission to tighten/replace that bolt. I don't think there's any other access to it.
