Shop has new work bench

So a friend who tends to give me stuff he no longer wants gave me a beat up work bench. It is not very heavy duty and something one can buy from who knows what company. Any how I have taken it and sort of fixed up the bent parts and put it in my shop. It has its own built in light and a power strip with USB ports. My plan it to beef it up a bit so maybe it will be a good work space. I did have to run a new power line it but that was no big deal since I had all that laying around. It has a top shelve with lid and 3 drawers under the work top.

About twenty five years ago an old guy at work wanted me to get rid of an old work bench for him, keep it or drop off at the junk yard. It was at one time a nice heavy steel bench at the old Ford dealer garage before it burned down years and years ago. It had some serious warping so I bolted a thick piece of plywood to the top along with the Columbian vice he had put on it years ago and it works good for me. Never have got around to taking off the numerous colored coats of peeling paint.

This one os made out of sheet steel that is about as tick as what a car is made of so it bends easy. The top of a pressed fiber board type of stuff. It has a lower shelve but it is bent up real good. I plan to take the lower shelve off and use it as a pattern to cut a piece of plywood and then bolt it back down with the sheet metal on top of the plywood.

I paid $30 for this one and made a frame for it to set on with wheels. Saves me a lot of steps when working on a tractor. I may widen out where the wheels attach, I haven't lost it yet, but it seems kinda tippy.

A workbench with an electrical outlet, maybe even a powerstrip, is very, very handy. I have added outlets on the front of all of my workbenches.

Yes I might be able to get him to post picture of it. Right now it is the least covered bench in my shop.

When this bench gets covered you can always add on to the shop to make room for more benches.

I made

New benches for new pole barn and threw away this old bench.
My son used the top boards

3x12x62 inch oak cleaned up the bottom side and made a workbench.
He thinks the boards are a one of a kind. Also gave him another one of a kind vice

The back jaw moves to hold odd shaped things like axe heads. Vice is over 100 years old. It weighs over 150#.
The jaws open 11 inches

The before picture looks so sad. The after picture doesn't even look like the same bench. Nice work.
