shop lights

I have pick up a bunch of T5 6 bulb lights. What I need to know is spacing for a 16 ft ceiling, 40 wide, 60 long. One row on each
side and one down the middle. But how far apart for the length? It's time to light up the tractor garage! The plant is
switching to LEDs but the price is right for these.

Three rows across the 40 foot (480 inch) width of the building would give you one row down the center and two rows spaced 160 inches from the center leaving 80 inches to each wall. The spacing would be: wall; 80 inches; light; 160inches; center light; 160 inches; light; 80 inches; wall.

Assuming you want about the same spacing down the length of the building you could have either four or five lights down the length.

Four rows down the 60 foot (720 inch) length of the building would give you a little longer spacing at 90 inches from each wall and 180 inches between the rows. The spacing would be: wall; 90 inches; light; 180inches; light; 180 inches; light; 180 inches; light; 90 inches; wall. Twelve lights total in a 3 X 4 pattern.

Five rows down the 60 foot (720 inch) length of the building would give you a little shorter spacing at 72 inches from each wall and 144 inches between the rows. The spacing would be: wall; 72 inches; light; 144inches; light; 144 inches; center light; 144 inches; light; 144 inches; light; 72 inches; wall. Fifteen lights total in a 3 X 5 pattern.

I don't think you need to have the whole garage evenly lit. I would focus the light on work areas where the brightest possible lighting is needed. Therefore, the distance between the bulbs can be different, depending on your needs.

My layout for my needs all 8ft lights all 12ft off the floor.

I used 4 ft 5000L down the middle of the gable . Space them 4 ft apart.
I only turn lights on at night.
The windows under the eves let tons of light in.
I have lights over work benches.

504,

Hang one on the wall and angle it down towards the center of the floor.

You may like it, unless you position yourself with your back against the wall, there will be no shadow,

Guido.

If you have enough to put them end to end, do it.

A 16 ft high ceiling is putting them pretty high. Maybe even 4 rows if you have enough fixtures, drop the ones on the sides down if you can.

You will like them, I put them in the inspection room here at the shop, haven't had to even replace a lamp yet and that's been about 6 years now!

I have 6 bulb T5 lights in my shop. It's 45 feet long and 20 feet wide. I have 3 fixtures by each side wall evenly spaced and at ceiling height which is 16 feet. Lights the area very well.

4ft,28 lights. They were wired for 227V but they told me they checked, and they will run on 115V. I have not pulled the cover from the ballast yet. If I had some place to store them, I would pick up the other 400 of them.

I would suggest using a double switch for each row with each switch running every other light. Those rows of lights eat power like cotton candy.
