Short / long frame B?

More short frames made, but earlier tractor, and some of the earliest are rare. Less long frames made, but later more "common" tractor. Up to you.

The Long Frames were ONLY late 37 and 38 while the short frame were all (more made) others. However the real early 4 bolt B's (1st 2000 made I believe??) or brass tag are prob worth the most.

Heres my 38 Long Frame

Sweet looking tractor John T.
I hope my '38 long frame looks that good someday.

I'm starting the reassembly. Still looking for a pair of front wheels.

What kind of paint did you use?

Kurt

My buddy did the painting, he used Classic Green from Mother Deere + hardener is all I know??? I did the mechanical but I cant paint.

The pictures are on Webshots under either John T's B or John Nordhoff somewhere, I took several

John T,

Sorry I"m going to miss your daughter, but if it all works out for her here, for sure we will get to visit. Bring your banjo!

I"m going to try my hand at painting my "38 B. I guess if it doesn"t work out well, I can always do it again.

Gentlemen thank you for the input. After reading your posts I'll be keeping the short frame tractor. I found out it has the brass serial tag.

If you don't mind me asking what makes a 4 bolt b a 4 bolt b? Are they only 4 bolts holding the frame to the crankcase?

I am just curious that's all.

A 4 "bolt" B is where there are only 4 studs/nuts holding the steering pedestal to the front frame. They are much more valuable since Deere switched to 8 studs/nuts in February, 1935.
