I started reassembling my 8n. Got the studs in the block, upper bearing halves in, crank in, lower bearings and caps on and then the oil pump stud threads stripped. When I removed the nuts I didnt notice they were damaged until I stripped the block clean of everything. I can only assume that when the engine was rebuilt in 66 they either cross threaded the nuts on or just tightened the pitts out of them without using a torque wrench. I used a thread chaser on them with the feeble hope that it would work out but as soon as they contacted the pump body they let go. Can I use bolts? HELLLPPP! I included pics of the studs.from IPad.
