Side mount distributor with electronic ignition.

I pulled my original distributor to see if it could be rebuilt to run on points ignition. I am inquiring as to how to get it back in time with the electronic ignition installed. Thanks for any information.

Maxie,If it's a side dist. it has to be a 8N,with it running clip a timing light to a 12 volt battery,(most of them are 12 volt)loosen the screw on the timing cover on the right rear of the bell housing and access the hole to see the timing mark on the flywheel,put the imput clip on the #1 plugwire and rotate the dist till it lines up the mark with the point in the hole.Tighten the bolt that holds the dist.from turning. Simple!

It has been removed. Believe wanting/needing to stab the right gear mesh....well before running & using timing light. I could be wrong?
