Side mount dizzy

Okay.... Hopefully this is the last post on this side mount for a bit....
I fixed the gear and on inspecting more I noticed it would turn for a bit then it would seize and I couldn't get it to turn with vice grips. The shaft seems to bent as well as the housing and the bushings don't seem to be in good shape. Overall....the thing is rough. I have had problems with it before but I never thought it was this bad.
Any way I found a guy close to me that has a used side mount he was getting off of a 52 8n today and he quoted me 100.00 for it. I also found a brand new one on eBay for 134.00. My question is how good are the new ones? Are they cheaply made? The new one doesn't seem any different from the one sold on this site. Or am I better off buying a used one?
Thanks for the help!

GOOD used original equipment parts are ALWAYS superior to offshore made aftermarket replacements. Aftermarket distributors and governors are notoriously poor quality and cause people a lot of headaches. But, sometimes they are your only option.

Codi,Check for screws that are to long holding the points, condenser, thus hitting the centrifugal advance under the plate that the points - condenser are attached to. or advance springs broken ect. Take it apart and check it out.

BY all means find a good used one(original). About 10 years ago I bought an off shore one and due to pressed metal parts the fly weights would stick and drag and not advance properly and the shaft was lose in the bushing .I ended up taking the off shore one all apart and redoing it to keep as a spare. For the original one I made a new bushing(good and proper fit) and I replaced the fly weight assembly with Ford parts and it works perfectly in the 8n side mount. It is very sensitive on advance as checked with a timing light.
