I've got side shields that have two problems.

1. One small portion was bent over. I've unrolled it but of course now it has waves in the sheet metal. What can I do to get this back straight?
2. The mounting holes for the sheet metal had been pulled and created a pucker. how can I press that back down so its straight

Should I be using heat?

The problem is the stretch. heat makes it easier to stretch. The only way that I can think oof doing such a small area is to cut the excees out leaving a small gap then carefully MIG or TIG it together.

Patience and practice. Heat it with a small tip a small area at a time then tap it back into place with a small hammer and backup plate. With heat you can actually crowd the metal back into place.

Isn't there a type of hammer that pulls the metal together rather than spreading it?

Yes, I have a shrinking dolly, which woks by putting slight wrinkles into the metal. I didn't mention it because I don't see it working on that narrow strip.
