Beautiful barn and silos......looks like the silo on the right in the second picture may have had too much of it's own corn squeezins........looks a little tipsey.

It amazes me how they put tops on them without modern equipment. Took a lot scaffolding to get that high.

The scaffolding was usually on the inside of the silo.

I watched them pour a new concrete silo when i was an AgE major there. Very interesting. the concrete hopper flew up and down pretty fast. about as fast or faster than the video showed the blocks going up.

I've wondered about our silo. it is a concrete stave silo and was built around 1953. still has 6ft of corn silage I'm guessing from around 1986-7 time frame. wondered if the silage will eventually eat the concrete. plus is has about 6" of pigeon crap on top lol.

I cannot imagine many if any new upright silos are being put it. around here most use bags and the bigger guys use piles. a few still put in uprights especially the aaamish. most guys here that no longer milk use their blue silos for grain
