Where's the barn? Knocked down and replaced by an improved road?!

By the mark for some kind of shed I would say it got knocked down for the new road. OR it got assembled very well with the marks on the road side. That would be noisy filling them with them that close to the house like that unless it is just the picture.

Those silo's do look out of place with the road there, but as stated the road likely came after.

i usually make e-puzzles from pictures such as these ,, BUT NOT THIS ONE it stands as a testiment to modern times mocking all the lessons and values learned from our ancestors. although capitalism is a wonderful thing in a free economy ..the quest to build a better mousetrap and curb costs becomes a runaway for survival , DEVOUR YOUR NEIGHBOR OR BE DEVOURED predatory capitalism becomes communist.. destroying freedom and oppurtunity and ambition . thus sickening the populance and shoving the common man into a small world with no chance to grow and achieve true success .THATS MY observation of our modern world YMMV

This is just a case of the barn missing.
There is no William J Lepetomane Thru-way running here.
There were no horses harmed in the taking of this picture.
There was no #5 worked up on the cattle and citizens of the nearby town.

It's not uncommon to see the older silos added onto, but the taller one in this photo has been added onto twice. The first time, it appears two doors were added. Later on, the height was increased by three additional doors. Each time they did so, they topped it off by painting the new upper staves with the silo mfg's pattern. In this case, it was Hanson silo company (of Lake Lillian MN, Luverne MN, and Lake View IA).

Correct. These bear the early Hanson pattern and are roughly 50 miles from Lake Lillian.

i knew that mite bite somewhere somewhere ,, LOL . sorry , BUT just reflecting my thoughts ,,. , i think we were a better people when those folks decided to build the silo , the farm , the home , the growing family farm . t5he people raised in this culture knew how and why to get things done ,

Those two have some capacity! I'd estimate the shorter one at 20x70, and the one nearby to be about 24x100.
