This is the only type of silo we get to see around here.

Quite the contrast between the old dilapidated crumbling silo and the newer metal Sioux grain been standing next to it. Times have changed much through the years.

I find terminology interesting. In my area we refer to the sioux bin as a bin thad the crock block structure would be a silo and not usually used interchangeably for either one since a silo would hold a fermented product and the bin would hold grain of some form and either dry or wet depending on the need and type of grain being put in. Like we fill a couple of bins with wet corn about 20% and less corn to get it out of the field in last of the season. Then load it out in winter while it is cold. Soybeans we put in dry because if you don't put air to them they will spoil at much over 16%. I have dried beans from 16 down with just air over time using warm air as it was filled to keep it cool and the air drys them as it flows through. Wheat usually winds up at the elevator off the filed due to lack of bin space for it and ease of hauling just a few acres in summer.

I drove by again today and there is a 10-20, some plows, and a dump rake that randomly frame this little patch of grass hay.
