We drove back from Lawrence, Kansas to MN on secondary roads this week. I wish I would take the time to take silo pictures, there were so many different kinds, sizes, roofs, most of them appear to be not in use. Some were hidden by trees and farmsteads, other standing alone, sometimes by themselves, some times in groups. Just makes you wonder.......

One would think there would be a secondary usage that would catch on and make them in "vogue" again like the small metal grain bins.
There were some that got turned into a house and office space. They were very large or round. Did not seem to catch on. I think there like a hay baler not much else you can do with it.

Mine is a White Star brand. 16' X 40'. It served us well. For about the first 10 years we had it, we crawled up every morning and scooped the silage down the chute into the JD wagon below, then took it to the other farm, then came home and fed there. In 1979, my dad added an aluminum coated, steel roof to it, and a Silomatic unloader. Funny how that happened about the time I got a job and wasn't there to scoop anymore. 🤣
