Some morning activity in the neighborhood.I like seeing the silos they, appear to be relics from days gone by. Most times the ground is still being worked around them but the need for silos have gone by the wayside. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, that is what that is. Manure from cattle or hogs raised in confinement is mostly liquid with some solids. Manure is stored for up to a year in a pit or lagoon then agitated to suspend the solids in the liquid and applied using tankers like this or a tool bar pulling a hose from a pump at the pit. A few steps away from the days when you pitched manure with a fork onto a 40 bushel spreader and hauled it out with a 30 horsepower tractor (or a team of horses).Cool, is that putting liquefied manure into the ground? I'm not too educated on farming and the equipment used today so be easy on me.
Was that on the high plains near Melby?Sunday afternoon: It was awful warm.
Sitting on my perch, the high wind-swept plains of the eastern part of the county in which I live, provided tiny breezes.
Microphone in hand, supposed to be paying attention to other things, an old rag-top Buick rolls by, light in color, top down.
Sweet.
(This happens. Or, "you'll have that" from time to time.
One gets lost in the world around instead of a focus point. That's good. The mind should wander.)
Then I looked. Within one half-turn of my head, EIGHT silos just to the south of me within my view.
Some, miles away. Some, beckoning me. Some saying I'm still in use.
The "piece de resistance" of silo. Yet far off. Untouchable.
Thinking myself cool for finding EIGHT, I turned to look behind. There I found...
None.
A place of purpose or even "comfort" was void of the view behind.
My mistake. You said east side. Was that on the high plains near Melby?
