Those lower walls appear to be concrete block. Never cared for the aesthetics of concrete block buildings. Seems like they'd be cold and damp.

We, unless I am mistaken, used to call these barns Beaty style barns, since Beaty incited the design with out internal cross bents that hindered the accessibility use of the loft space.
Possibly this Beatty?

If Beatty was a student of Gothic Arch then “incite” is accurate.

In the Midwest or at least central Mn these are known as Horseshoe Roof barns. The multi pitch style known as Gambrel. The gambrel lends itself to early post and beam design.

I've got two barns that were built by my grandfather and my dad. One is a hog house the other a milk/hay barn. I am from the generation of "pole structures" and I have to say, I can't tell much difference in them regarding temperature unless one side is open.
