I'm puzzled. There were three tile silos on this road.
You’re puzzled, but I’m confused “on this road” must mean some random road in your area? In Kansas McPherson was a company that made concrete “stave” silos which show as larger vertical blocks. But as you mentioned they have steel rings around them.
 
I'm puzzled. There were three tile silos on this road. But the tiles were much larger than these pictured. But these must be bigger than a common brick? What holds it together? In these local tile silos there are steel retaining bands all in the voids in the tiles.

The morning sun was blind so upon return around noon the second is west looking east at just the clay silo which I would guess to be an ACO silo.

The answer will have to come from Bob, but he is making a statement about something he has seen by the way I read it. (I was traveling and) “There were three silos on this road” then he continues by comparing what he saw to what your pictures show; “But the tiles were much larger than these pictured. …”
