My favorite wrench of all time a 15mm - 13mm combination long flex head deep spline drive the retainer pin on the 15mm side will not stay in place. This wrench has been so handy I try not to abuse it when possible I break the faster free with another tool then use this wrench. I contacted SK the wrench is no longer available they gave me a $56.87 credit to spend in their store. I brought a 1/4" drive ratchet this happens to be my favorite 1/4" drive ratchet. This is the first time I tried to get warranty from SK online. I will try and weld the pin in place.

I have had luck hammering the end of the pin to fatten it then driving it home. A touch of Locktite will also work after it is carb cleaner clean. Jim

mic it to see if a coil pin is available in that size. IF, big if, the handle is soft enough to drill you could enlarge it to take whatever pin size is available. The coil pins are as strong as a solid pin but lock in place like a splhit pin. Cub Cadet used them in a lot of the early IH models. They are available from McMaster-Carr, but you have to buy a box there.

A few years ago I had some SK Ratchets that did not work. A "supplier" sold the tools but would not honor the Warranty. I went on line and asked them about warranty and at the time S-K still had lifetime Garantee on their Tools. They shipped the replacement tool to the "Supplier" so I could pick it up there. When I went in to pick it up the "Supplier" about had a fit&Insulted me some, but went back and found the replacement(since I knew it was there) and did to the exchange??? I did this two different and got by with it. I don't think it would work again???
Snap-on tools were better when the trucks ran around but they would order it and drop it off next time. I suspose it depended on the vender but they always liked it when customers went in the truck and came out satified with a few hundred dollars in tools???

We have an SK tool truck that comes around to local shops, he's warrantied tools for me. I'm blown away by the price of that 1/4" ratchet, I have a few of them and I've had them for 40-50 years, they are the go to 1/4" ratchets and I have every other brand. Nothing like the fine teeth of those ratchets.

A warranty is only good for as long as the company is still in business. In todays world, so many of the good ole companies ae history, or making junk crap in China, that you might as well not get to excited about. When some little 17 year old sales clerk gives me the "lifetime warranty" spiel, I just laugh to myself. I do not even try to explain to them that their words mean nothing.

I had a 3/8 ratchet the switching deal in the ratchet broke so I could not switch directions and they sent me new parts to put in just a year or so ago. I like my old S-K stuff .I have some of all of them from Snap -on to Williams,Proto, Challenger, Craftsman from old days and then some old cheap end wrenches I boughtr over the phone 40 years ago. Have warranted more Craftsman ratchets than anything else. Used to be able to pull the top off the teeth in a half inch ratchet without a pipe on it if I pulled hard on a stuck or real tight bolt. 3/8 was the same way. Just quit replacing them with the frequency of it.

I have some wrenches, that were my dad's that say PLUMB in triangler letters on the handles, that I'm told are now S&K.

I believe those were the for runner to Proto tools As Plumb and Plomb evolved they became Proto and the proto line used to make a cheaper Challenger line for the more or less home use not the professional mechanic. Not that they are cheap but not the price tag of the Proto line. I think Blackhawk end wrenches were part of the Proto line if I remember right also. It gets hard to keep up with all that with all the changes over the decades. And now what is left of them is all owned by Stanley Black and Decker now. After looking at more information they would be from the later PRoto brand with another plomb making striking tools such as hammers . Just do a search for history of Plumb or plomb and most of it will come up and is a good read on the history and tool manufacturer acquisitions in the past from some lines that were around before WWII and then what was left of some tools lines after the war. The triangles for OO's was an early use prior to about 1950. According to what I was reading.

I bought that same 1/4” drive SK ratchet last year and love it!

A SK tool truck use to stop by till about 10 years ago maybe longer he was a nice guy always had a good deal are new tool. He sold Mac tools for a long time then went independent. He sold his property to a big land developer for an astounding amount of money and retired. His wife was a doctor of some sort so he did this to get out and BS with folks. He was EZ going if you make a reasonable offer you owned it : ).

Often he would look over your tools and pull out good sockets and replace with new. He said he needed enoufh broken/damaged tools to turn in to make it worth his time what ever that meant. If the chrome had a small chip he replaced it, SK was bad for that at one time. That's about the only reason I have so many SK tools he looked after me well.

The last couple of Snap-on tool purchases I wasn’t impressed. The new Snap-on tool truck guy stopped by a couple weeks ago and left a flier, I know Snap-on has always commanded a premium, but their current prices are completely insane. I also think their quality had went down.
I’ve got some SK tools, some I’ve had for so long I don’t recall where they came from (probably an auction) and I’ve ordered a few online. I’ve never in my life seen a SK tool truck, I didn’t even know they had them.
I’ve been recently buying Icon. They seem to be better than decent tools, and even beat out Snap-on on some of the tools watching online test.

I don't know if the SK tool truck was a franchise deal like snap-on etc they were more independent are franchise dealers that went independent. When the SK tool truck went away a Gearwrench truck showed up he was a old Mac dealer that got tired of franchise headaches. Now he is gone.

Independents have a hard time with credit backed by a franchise. The way I seen it in the spring their truck would be loaded and as the year went along it became bare. They would go to trade shows in the winter and load up on deals and not replenish till the next spring. The internet killed them off.

Back to Snap-on and such if you don't play their games they will bankrupt you. About the only time I buy from those players is if its on a sale. Snap-on ships them what they want them to sale even if they cannot sale it when that happens the dealer will deal to get rid of it : ).
