Skid Steer Quick Hitch

I bought an Amazon skid steer quick hitch plate. Welded my implement to it and, I don't think the locking pins go far enough through the bottom of plate. Only about an inch and I think it may shake off the loader. My plate is 18.5" deep and I see some that are just 18 and some that are 16. Is there a way to extend the pins or could I heat the plate and bend it up to make it shorter? "why me Lord?"

I will have to go out and measure how far my pin protrude from the locking slots in the plate but an inch seams about right. If your pins are around an inch in diameter and you have an inch protruding that is a fair amount of steel. I don't know what implement you are going to use but usually the pins just hold the plate in place and most of the load is on the top flange as in for lifting.

My Bobcat skid steer locking pins extend about one inch, never had a problem.

Measure your skid steers hitch plate from the top tip to where it angles to the pins, what ever that measurement is the attaching plate needs to be at lease that long or 1/4” longer. 1/2” longer will work but makes a sloppy hitch that will move on the pins.
I have one piece of equipment that is probably that loose and did pop it off the pins once, but I was being very aggressive and using full down force in reverse when it popped loose, I’ve never had a bucket come off but all of them fit fairly tight

Not sure what yours looks like but if it resembles New Holland, lay a flat strip on the top of the adapter plate, ( maybe 1/4" or less) so that the attachment sits higher on the adapter. If this works, tack weld it on there.

There seem to be 2 sizes of attach plates, 18.2" and 16.8. My plate is 18.2 and my hitch is 16.8, I bought the wrong one and have my tool bar welded to it. There is enough slop that implement falls off! I am going to get some 1/4 - 1/2 inch stock and weld it to the inside of the top of the Attach plate to reduce the slop. Similar to what Fritz suggested. Was going to use angle iron but it is 90 degrees and the top of the Attach plate is about 70 degrees.

I welded a piece of 3/8" x2x6 on the top and it solved my problem. Read the description of any after market Attach Plate, there seem to be 2 sizes.

Keep an oil can nearby and lubricate the levers and plungers whenever they look dry. That's a nice hitch and it'll be a joy to operate when it latches easily.

With down pressure mine would pop off the top. Adding the 3/8th plate solved the problem. I should have read the Amazon description better. Some are 18" but mine is 16". Buyer beware.
