Slant Dash B

Just wondering how common a slant dash B is? I looked at older ads on here and saw a few. and that they were on par with the value of a regular B. Looking for one this year after I sell a couple of non- john deeres out of my barn. Thanks for any information.

Not too rare. 1940 was the year they came out. We have one and know of many others out there. Still a little unique though. May bring a little more from a buyer looking specifically for a slant dash.

They built alot of them. I had as many of them as I did late models that I picked up as parts tractors way back. They were not popular at all for anyone to fix up. Now they seem to be ?

Only thing I would say could be rare about them is finding a complete and original one or a really really nice one. Most around me (ohio) were left rot up in fence rows years ago.

I myself have a 1945 that I completly went through. I had plenty of parts to build it from, but decision to fix this one was based solely on the fact the crankshaft and splines were in good shape. All the others has bad splines. So I really built a tractor around the crankshaft !

I maybe wrong on this but I know of a few folks
who origally had a hand crank tractor. John
Deere came out with a kit to convert to
Electric start all the kits were slant dash
design. I don"t have a clue as to why John Deere
would two dash"s for the same tractor available.
I know the Slant dash A will work on on a B...

The slat dash B was only made for a couple of years. When they went to a 6 speed on the tranny there was no room with the shifter so they made a flat dash if they added a starter and/or lights.

Mike, the SLANT DASH B was only supplied from the factory for the years 1939 and 1940 (B60000-B200999). These were 4 speed transmission tractors with either electric starting OR lights OR both. True some were converted later from hand start, but unless it was a four speed it would have had a cast (Straight [vertical]) dash. If you have a 1945 slant dash it is a rare tractor indeed.

Darn brain fart again ! I had the slant and straight dash one confused.

Maybe between all of us we can get it right. LOL

BTW: I think the serial number break you wanted was (60,000 to 96,000)
