Sleep Apnea

(quoted from post at 15:34:33 01/13/23) Has anyone found an alternative to the mask and machine? I saw an advertisement for a product called Inspire,
Check out sleep dentistry. Friend swears that the oral splints are a lot better than his old mask.

Sleep apnea is when you stop breathing 10 or more times in an hour while sleeping. If your ok with that; then don't do anything. I've seen multiple ways to treat it. You need to do your research to figure out what works. I've had my machine for 23yrs but wish i'd had it for 25, as 2 heart attacks caused me to lose 50% use of my heart.

wife ditched the mask and uses a nose device. It has 2 connectors that she sticks on her nose every night and hooks the hose to those. She tried various other devices and likes this set up the best.
Its called Bleep https://bleepsleep.com

I cannot sleep without the CPAP. We have an adjustable bed and I raise the head and use the F&P Brevida Pillow mask. I am 6 foot 220 with a 20 inch neck. Yep, that's the problem.....lose weight and live with it.

I have not tried Inspire or know of anyone who has.

What I understand is that it is an electronic muscle stimulator that prevents the throat muscles from relaxing when you go to sleep.

I haven't heard anything bad about it, but again, no personal experience. I would sure like to find something better than the mask, I have severely dry mouth every morning and struggle to keep the mask in place, wakes me up leaking, blowing in my eyes, whistling...

I tried the nose only type, it was worse, just blew through my nose and out my mouth, did no good.

I think everyone gets too excited; if you know you stop breathing multiple time per hour and don't care; then refuse the equipment given to you for it. You can't sell it for 5 yrs, anyway. no one complains about the machine; it's the mask and hose. If you complain now; in the year 2000; the equipment was really junk; yet somehow we made it work. I much prefer the bipap to the cpap but complaints about the machine are few and far between. have a great day!
