sleeve kit 4430

I am looking for a sleeve kit which will improve cold starting. Hyper was $306/hole. Does that sound right?? Are there other kits that will aid starting but for less money???

Thanks for your help!

Advantage engine has a Platinum performance kit that I generally use. It is cheaper than the Hyper kit but I think just as good. I get mine from Hy-capacity. Valve to head specs and fuel system up to spec will help starting also. I did one last summer that will start immediately at 20 degrees without being plugged in. When comparing prices with Deere be aware that the Deere kit does not include wrist pins, bushings, or rod bolts.

Don's Diesel has a kit for a 4430 $995 plus $195 for a full gasket set.

I've had very good luck with them. Like was said below, make sure the head is done properly with the correct valve standout.

Here's another parts option that Yesterdays Tractors offers that Kim didn't mention. These kits include rd bolts. I personally FORGET to look on this site for parts for newer model tractors(1970's up).

Ken, Tractor can/will start great with original replacement engine kit. To make it start, reduce valve recession in head by moving/raising valves. Do this by replacing valves and raising valve seats in head. Bring valve recession to very top end of speciation and tractor will start like you have never seen one start before. Reducing the valve recession will raise cranking compression which is why these engines start hard. I have done and do this to all John Deere engines I overhaul and always get complimented on their improved starting character. I promise you will not be disappointed.
