I recently acquired a twin cylinder Wisconsin that has a propane carburetor on it. It also has a 4:1 gear box mounted on it. I have never worked on a propane system before. It looks like it would be a pre regulated supply going into this carb. Can anybody give me some advice on this type of carb system? I originally wanted it as a replacement engine for a small homemade tractor my Dad built when I was very young, I'm soon to be 68. He had the 18hp twin & mounted a car flywheel/clutch driving a transmission, then chain drive down to another transmission and then a shortened rear axle from a car. He had a shop built front axle with small tires on the front. He mostly designed it for deer hunting to haul the guys way back into the area that they hunted. It was about five miles back in a logging road. He had some big planks that he drug along to cross some streams. I want to restore it in memory of my Dad.
The propane system has me thinking it might be a good system to keep. I do have the original twin's gas carb that I can use if this is not going to work out. The gear box mounted on this propane twin has a lever to engage it. Does anybody recognize the original application for this engine? Any info or help will be appreciated.
