Small LED Flashlight Recommendations

I have a trusty mini Maglite I have been considering converting to LED. The conversion kit costs about $9.00. The converted light will be only 30 lumens. I see modern lights are 75 or more. Would you convert an old mini Mag or buy a new light? I am not looking to spend a great deal but don’t want a throw away light either. Rechargeable would be nice but not critical as light will not see a great deal of use.

What recommendations do you have for me?

Thank you,
Glenn F.

1,000 plus lumen lights shorter that five inches seem to be a dime a dozen these days at TSC. I have them all over the house and in vehicles.

A few years ago I was at harbor freight helping a friend load a tool chest and noticed these lights made by Braun 1800 Lumen and Rechargeable. I picked one up and after about six months I was impressed enough to go back and buy five more. Toughest little lights I have ever owned. Well worth the $30 price.

I have a Halo Guarddog LED rechargeable it is wonderful and held up to a lot of abuse. Current models seem to run 35$ or less and multiple charging methods. My particulat unit has a stand alone charger. Great unit.

Most retail stores have them in multiple packs for a few dollars. Amazon has dozens. We have several scattered about the house and vehicles. Brands may be different but they all seem to be very similar.

I had a Mini Maglight AA that I put a Niteize conversion led into. It was bright enough to look into the dark places in mechanical rooms and engine bays. Not really all that bright but the batteries would last months of everyday use. Unfortunately I lost it. I replaced it with a Milwaukee rechargeable led. It has 3 levels of brightness adjusted by a side switch. It also keeps memory of the last setting. I use the medium setting as that isn't too bright or too dim. It lasts at least a month on a charge.

I converted a D-cell Maglite to an LED bulb, the results were pretty disappointing compared to my factory made LED Maglite. And at the time, there was only about $10 difference between the conversion and the new light...but I hate to throw things away.

We have 3 Nebo SLYDE flashlights:
>>Very bright
>>Strong magnet base
>>Pull out the end, for a lantern style light - just make SURE you shut off the lantern, before you slide it closed... or it will get extremely hot!! [Don't ask me how I know.]

Ours are small... but NOT like a penlight.
We have had them for years - we both really like them.

I like the head light deals that have a\n elastic band for going around your head. Bright and work great for working on things or seeing places . I don't bother with rechargeable since the batteries last a day if used in a steady job for a day. Light is always where your are looking also.

We sell these at work And I have been really surprise at its power. I can light up the house a hundred yards away on high power. And for less than 20.00. https://sensibleproducts.com/high-beam-rechargeable-flashlight/

I converted a few mini Mag's a waist of money, to begin with they never were a good tool. I tote a Nebo 7 days a week for the money they are hard to beat.

What I tote today Nebo inspector #NED-POC-0004

A light I really liked Lightstar LS-80 the switch goes bad I have to run a snap-on truck down for warranty I rank it as the best for bright light but not as durable as the Nebo.

I fell in love with the Stylus Stream light, it uses AAAA battery's not cheap. If you drop it that is the end of it : (.

The long one on top of pix is a Bluepoint YA5100B my go to when I need to get in a hole, thats all its good for.

My head lamp Coast HL7 #19273 its on/off nuttin fancy gets the job done. Coast warranty's them I sent them in they send new one's back. You can buy parts like the headband I have 6 of them ready to go.

Some of the Mag lights in my junk drawer they were always problematic no telling how may light blubs I went thru I kept extras. One thing I did like and use often is the fiber optic attachment.

A must for me is Its got to be a shirt pocket light I am done with a holster light. Most of the day a light will be strapped to my head the Coast is the winner.

+1 on the Streamlight - I prefer the Stylus. I call it my magic wand. HOBO is right though, those AAAA batteries are aptly named, you scream "AAAA" when you see the price for 4... They do last a long time though.
