Small plow or similar for

We run dairy cows, horses, and hogs. I know basically nothing about ground engaging implements and am not sure what I'm looking for or what to call it even.

This winter I built my wife a nice big garden with 12' high fencing to keep deer our. This year I don't think it'll matter too much since it's too late and she's planning to just expand what she's growing a small amount, but she's still gardening the "old" way like when all she had was four 30' beds to bother with. This new garden area is 200'x70', a bit more for her to manage. We figured that we'd move to running rows sort of like they do in market gardens and stop using the 4' wide beds she's got in her smaller garden in the back yard. She's got the soil management figured out and does the "no-till" stuff, so she doesn't want or need me to plow or till the dirt, but she was wondering if I could dig her a furrows that she can plant into.

I've been looking at plows but all I'm finding are the sort you use to turn over the soil, nothing looks like something that'd dig a furrow. I know for a fact that she does not want me to drill seeds for her, I have a seed drill already but she enjoys the planting, just wants me to dig straight, long furrows for her to plant into.

Any idea what sort of implement I'm in need of here and any recommendations on a good brand/kind to look out for? Like I said, I know nothing about this kind of farming and I'm totally lost.

a furrow. Smaller seeds a high wheel cultivator

If using a tractor a field cultivator shank and tooth would work for most seed. The teeth can be a sweep or a spike spike for smaller seed like beets and sweep for taters don't need taters deep just covered so they don't sunburn. The middle buster would work though now you need to tools to plant.

Roger, I'll be using a tractor. I've got a few, but probably use my small IH.

Several of the middle busters like pictured can have that wide blade removed and a skinny 2 inch spike blade put on so it can make narrow trenches as well.

The IH is a 424 with a 3pt. I also have a (currently split) 8N (with 3pt) and have been looking at getting either a Yanmar 240 or a Farmall Cub.

I use either a potato plow/middle buster that I built, or a single row cultivator with a layoff plow bolted in the middle. The middle buster has about a 12" foot on it, I use it for making very large or deep rows. The layoff plow is basically just a rigid tine in the middle of the one row cultivator with a 3-4" foot on it. It doesn't take too much to lay off rows for a small garden.

If I can remember to do it I will take a few pictures of each tomorrow afternoon and post them.
