Small welding project

Was cleaning up around the property and got thinking it would be nice to have a boom for the tractor. Dug around the shop and had just enough material to put something together. It's not super heavy duty but very handy and easy to take on and off.

Nice looking beads - Is the main mast tubing or solid?

I added a hand operated winch to my boom pole and it made it 10 times easier to hook up to items - Particularly when you lift something out of a trailer and run out of lift travel before you can set the load on the ground.

It's 1.5" x .120" tube I had left over from a cage project. I really like the idea of a hand winch. That would come in handy.

Mine is the light duty version from Tractor Supply and strains my old back when putting it on the 3PH - Yours looks like it would be much easier to attach - Whaddya think it weighs?

Sure looks sturdy enough - No flexy even picking up the back blade.

I'd say it's around 50 lbs or so. I hang it on the wall of the barn when I'm done using it. Put a 300lbs gear in the back of my truck yesterday so I know it'll lift at least that much.

My guess is it will hold more than the tractor can lift at that hook.....

That is real nice work.
Will do the job just fine.
A couple of additions I would make to it if it were mine. Add another lifting loop about 2' closer to the tractor. You wont be able to lift as high from the second loop but you'll lift more weight. Also, I have found it very handy to add a grab hook on it for adjusting the chain.
Got that idea from reading these boards and it has served me well.

I like it. I particularly like the square
"doghnut" spacer between the boom and brace.
That is going to be real useful.
