I have a 28 in craftsman snow blower with a 9 hp Tecumseh engine it was used when I got it , but it has always had a lean pop out the exhaust I would play with the mixture screw and it would run good for 15secs. then start popping again I would adjust the mixture again but this time noted I had just a 1/4 turn out on the screw , but what I found was the screw was vibrating itself in going lean , I guess the little o-ring was gone so I put a small drop of thread lock on it problem solved , hope this might help someone else

Adjustable screws like that I use nail polish. Holds very well but not as blasted tight as loctite. A whole bottle of bright red nail polish Is usually a dollar at a discount store. You can use clear if you cut a small string or cord just dip it in to bottle. Works well on the end of shoelaces. Handy stuff.

That problem happened the my Q-jet on the boat this summer. After rebuild a year ago, it was running perfect. This summer it was running a little sour. Found one of the screws backed out 5 turns. Set it back to 1-1/2 and it runs perfect again.

a few years ago, I was at a laundromat dong laundry and a woman came in and we struck up a conversation. She was taking here snowblower in to a shop to get it repaired. I asked her if I could take a quick look at it. Myself and another fella unloaded it out of here explorer. A quick look at it and we found the Sunday paper jambed inside it. It ran perfect.
