Snowblower Options for 800 Series

861Diesel

New User
Trying to figure out what options I have for utilizing a snow blower on my 861.

1. Do they make a front mount that will work on this tractor? (I have one hyd circuit availalbe)

2. Is 540 RPM sufficient for a 3-pt mount snowblower?

Thanks

I have seen a few front mounted snow blowers... Schulte (sp?) is the only brand I can think of off hand that makes a front mount. That would give you a choice of speeds, and be easier on your neck... but you would need a 2nd hydraulic remote or a way to turn the chute manually. Most snowbowers under 8' are 540 rpm, so you're OK there. (There is no way a 861 could run a 8', unless there's only a couple inches of snow... I have a 6', and it can work the heck out of my 4600.)

Thanks for the info... I'll probably try to find a 48" or 60" 3pt mount blower, and just forget about the front mount. Take Care

I think that with some creativity you can add a hydraulic motor and run almost any blower on the front of your tractor. I have seen Pronovost as well as Kubota (I don't know what brand they really are, but they are painted Kubota orange) blowers on the front of tractors. In my experience, blowing snow backward is really no worse on your neck than running a haybine behind you. A 6' blower will move a lot of snow.

I have an 860 and the reverse speed is too fast to use with a regular rear snowblower. You are on and off the clutch continually. I moved that snowblower to my 3000 with two reverse speeds. Still use the clutch but it is better.
For the 860 I bought a erskine. It works great with the low speed 1 gear forward.

I had a 1950's MM while living in Alaska. It had a 6' snowblower on the front. the blower worked off a twin cyl.diesel, that ran the hydrualic's. Put many hours in the seat, moved many ton's snow. A friend had a snowblower that was 3pt hitched ran off the PTO He backed up many miles and got stuck in more then a few ditchs. Yep his neck was sore for most of the winter.. 7+ months. I will only have a front mounted snowblower.
