soil test results help

Just got my soil test back on my pumpkin patch and I'm a little confused. What I was told to apply isn't what I've been told in past years. This year the report says add: 65 lb. N, 100 lb. P205, and 150 lb. K20 per acre. I have no clue how to determine what this means since I'm used to the simple numbers like 5-10-10. Can anyone help explain what I'm being told now. I asking you guys as I can't stand to wait until Monday when I'll see my dealer. Thanks in advance.

Urea is 46-0-0, DAP is 16-46-0 and Potash is 0-0-60 so your requirements will have to blended from something like that. Some areas use Ammonia Nitrate instead of urea. how big is the patch?

1 unit equals 1 pound -- 5-10-10 is 5 pounds N, 10 pounds P and 10 pounds K per 100 pounds of product.

Urea = 46 units N

Triple super phosphate = 45 units P

Potash = 60 units K

The fertilizer blends are a percent. 12-13-14 would be 12%Nitrogen, 13%Phosphorous and 14%Potassium or Potash. So this means per 100lbs there is 12lbs of N, 13lbs of P and 14lbs K.

I set up a spreadsheet to help out with this. For you it would take
66lbs Urea
217lbs DAP and
250lbs potash

there are other ways to figure it, but that's the way I do it.

This gives you 533lbs of a 12.2 - 18.7 - 28.1

That's an awful lot for pumpkins. They must be using tri-state or Mid west plan service.

Thanks for the help guys. I knew it would come down to simple formula but I just didn't know how to get there. Anyway, I working 3 ac. in Virginia and the land has been a little slack on my giving the last few years. I also didn't tell you about the 6000 lb. of lime it calls for. Thanks again.

I use the raw ingredients rather than a premix but 1000 pounds of 5-10-15 plus 50 pounds of ammonium nitrate per acre would get mighty close. I rather go with the raw stuff in bulk thought.
