Solar welder

I know some of the battery chargers have the same knobs and cases as Sears,Exide and others. I expect them to be consumer grade, nothing wrong, just not something I would use everyday.

what model? They were built by Century

I bought a 2-175 new in 1982 and have used it hard, I had some issues with it when it was fairly new but no issues with it in a couple of decades with the exception of the solenoid gas valve. two years ago I bought a 110 volt century that the drive motor didn't work and swaped out the gas valve acouple of months ago.

It is my go to machine.

I have a miller 250 set up with a spool gun for Aluminum that I could use for steel but just like the way the Solar 2-175 runs.

I also have a 2-165 and a 2-225 in storage for back ups that I have picked up cheap.

I also Have a Century 110 volt 130 amp machine that I can use as a portable unit when I have to go on a service call.

in my opinion, used and not abused they are a good machine.

the most important thing with a wire welder is to keep them clean by blowing the dust out of them .

I have a Sears (Century) AC/DC welder that I like very much. Bought it for $75 off Craigslist. Great machine.

I also have a 15 year old 20-75 (I think) wire feed. Been a great welder. Saw on on CL several years ago and bought it thinking I would use it for parts so far the original has never needed parts.

Had solar mig welder never an issue. Bought a Miller to replace it and sold it. Big mistake, Miller has been POS from the get go.

I have a Solar 2175 wire feed welder. It has never had any wire bigger than .025 in it.I have it for tinwork,It has stitch and spot welding settings.I've never used those settings, but other guys in my shop have.I use a Linde Migmaster 250 for any real welding.
