Some progress on DC

Spent most of yesterday driving for parts for the DC. Found a chain at the Larson imp salvage yard. Was in real nice shape.

While cleaning the milky oil out I found a bad gear.

Larsons didn't have that gear, so that meant a drive to Gotvalds imp an hour drive in the other direction. They didn't have one on the shelf either, but had a tractor I took one out of. That took over an hour.

O didn't realize til after I got the new one that it is just an oil slinger gear and probably would have been fine. They are a very crude gear and look poorly made.

The bearing on the front of the live power shaft was bad too and neither larsons or Gotvalds had that, so another hour drive to St. Cloud for that. Bt should be able to get it togethernow. Case nutty gave me the idea to use a pump prayer with diesel to clean all the milky oil out and that worked great.

It's all cleaned and ready to go back together now. Hope to have it together by the weekend. It's hard to get along without it.

That is a good looking gearbox with very little wear.
Reminds me of the time I put a front bevel gear in a D and set the backlash.

Left chain doesn't look as heavy as the other...one a 120H and the other a 120??

the 830 of a Neighbors had a plastic slinger gear, the grease, water and cold weather ruined that, broke off the teeth, that ruined more stuff before that saga was over!

Looks like you found a nice std 120 chain.Lucky you did not have to put your welding skills to use on the bottom housing.Once use to a loader on the farm,it's tough to be without it

It is the heavy chain, it just looks like standard because the edges are tapered. If you look close you can see that. It's much heavier than the standard chain that was in it.

Have a wood box here with new chains for a DC. Don't remember if the dealer stamp was on the box or how many are in the box.

I wish I had thought of the sprayer for cleaning out my rear end. Did you have fun with the snap ring to get the pto shaft out?
