will the cab off a 1981 jd 4240 fit a 1979 jd 4440 both quadrange tran.

I think SGB will interchange between 4240 & 4440 with no problems. The replacement SGB for both models are the same.

Should work just fine,I put a 4440 cab on a 4455 Mexican tractor.

I have also seen them on 7520, 6030s,4320sand 4020s[too big] and even though they are done well an open station will outsell them.I could never fiqure out why JD continued putting Hinsen on 6030 until 1977 when Soundquard came out in 72.Your question is yes they will fit all 30/40/50/55 but there were a few changes in better interior and seat update.

JD had plans to introduce the SG body on the 4020s and other New Generation tractors. There are pictures out there of a 4020 with a SG body. Looks just like what was on the 30 series except the top was yellow and square up front instead of following the curvature of the glass. But they decided to wait until the 30 series so to make splash with the new tractors and new style. That tells me JD thought the SG body as a exclusive to the new 30 series and not the old New Generation tractors. Yes I know the 6030 is part of the 30 series but that's only in the decal. Besides a SG body would have made the 6030 which was already expensive tractor even more expensive. A 6030 cost as about much as a Versatile 900 back in the day. There are some things the 6030 can do the Versatile can't but overall the 6030 doesn't hold a candle to a 300 hp four wheel drive tractor that is nicer to run.
