spark plug clearance 8n

Hello, How much clearance is there supposed to be between #1 spark plug and the bottom of the gas tank on a ford 8n tractor?
On mine it's tight to the tank. Is that normal? Thanks, Jim

No, not normal.Has someone possibly installed anti-fouling tips
on your plugs?

the plugs that are in the tractor are autolite 417 no anti fouling tips. I changed the tank to one I bought from yesterday's tractor for just that reason, no plug clearance, but their still isn't any clearance. Jim

I wonder if in the past, someone had the tank out of the hood and put it back in wrong, and then you put the new tank in like you found it.

Gas tank is not installed correctly.

the incorrect reinstallation theory might be right. should the tank fit up under the rails on the hood when the hood is laying upside-down on the ground or just fit right on top of the rails?

all fixed, tank was installed incorrectly. this is my first experience with an 8n ford "with any tractor for that matter" and I appreciate the information you all have offered.
Now to tackle the miss under load. Jim
